About the event

In the Hadas del Sol community we have identified that for a significant number of Iberian fairies, the language barrier in international gatherings (with English as the main language) is an obstacle to participation and results in these fairies staying at home. To respond to this need and to create space for non-bilingual fairies, we have once again created a gathering this season for Spanish-speaking fairies who have difficulties with English. We want to give priority to these fairies, but if there are spaces left we are happy to welcome other fairies as well, whatever language they speak. We just ask you to be mindful that Spanish will be the main language of the gathering.

For many years the Folklóricas have been a reference for the LGBTIQ+ community in Spain. They became a medium for homosexual lyricists to express their forbidden loves through songs like "Un rojo, rojo clavel", "Ojos verdes" or "Tatuaje". Many of them, such as Lola Flores, Rocío Jurado or María Jiménez, defended the LGBTIQ+ community in the not very inclusive Spain of the last century.

They are also references within the artistic scene, being a source of inspiration for many of us, bringing colour, brightness and vulnerability to the stage. Their Andalusian kitch aesthetics attracted the attention of many people who began to dedicate themselves to transformism in order to imitate them, and they returned the gesture by making us doubt who was imitating whom.

Besides honouring the figure of the folkloric diva, we will have heart circles around the table, workshops, fun and No Talent... Party Night! So you can be a folkloric star for a day.

Don't hesitate! Whether you are pro-gay, hemosesuá or ladyboy, prepare your chest Concha Piquer style and put inside your dressing gown, gitano costume, tracksuit, heels and comb and come to a gathering with so much art that you can't stand it.
